Our Classes
After 50 years of teaching here at Trevonne, we have incredible experience when it comes to teaching dance lessons. We have such a variety of classes available to suit every child’s needs - whether that’s to shape them into talented young performers or to include them in our fun, sociable and welcoming environment!
IDTA Ballet
Ballet for pleasure or for the more serious-minded, this classical style has something to offer everyone.
Ballet, a classical style of expressive movement
dates back to the 17th century and the conventional steps, grace and fluidity of movement are still found in Ballet today. Choreographers have been influenced by composers through the ages.
Ballet has a technique which is the foundation of all dance.
RAD Ballet
The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) is a UK-based examination board specialising in dance education and training, with an emphasis on classical ballet. The RAD lessons consist of free and technical exercises, rhythm exercises, free movement & Folk / National dancing, broadening pupil’s classical knowledge. Pupils at Trevonne study RAD ballet in addition to their IDTA ballet syllabus.
IDTA Tap
Tap is rhythm – rhythm is tap. Its origins are many and varied. Americans claim its origin dates from the African Jazz age. The Irish stake their claim to the Jigs and Step Dancing. The English relate back to northern Clog Dancers but whichever one chooses to believe, Tap is as popular today as it was in the heyday of the great Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly musicals.
IDTA Contemporary Modern Jazz
Modern Jazz is fun. You will learn to develop many different movements reaching to a broad choice of varying rhythms and musical styles. Classes are structured to begin to prepare the physical strength and flexibility required to demonstrate emotion through interpretation of any musical genre.
One minute you may be dancing to the rhythm of a drum, the next to a funky jazz style. You may explore contrast between expansion and relaxation or learn to isolate in a slick stylish mood. Whatever the atmosphere of the class, it will be a wonderful opportunity to react and interact with other members and really dance to express your feelings.

Dinky Dance
Starting at a young age we build strong foundations through fun and engaging lessons to help our Dinky Dancers engage and develop not only their dance skills but also coordination, confidence, a sense of self and good all round social skills.
The children also learn to express themselves and in doing so thrive and flourish into beautiful little dancers.
Our youngest Dinky Dancer lessons are on Mondays 4.45-5.30pm and Saturdays 8.45-9.30 at our very own Trevonne Studios on North Street in Melton Mowbray.
We take children from around the age of 2 1/2 to 3 years old.
